Maestrocast Privacy Policy

Maestrocast (“we”, “us”, “our”) is operated by Oliver Nelson, a sole trader based in Australia. We are committed to protecting your privacy and managing your personal information responsibly and in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, store, disclose and protect your personal information when you use the Maestrocast platform and services.
This includes information about lesson recordings, which may be made for educational, quality assurance, or safety purposes.

We collect personal information necessary to provide you with our services, including:

a. Account Information

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Role (e.g., teacher, student, parent)
  • Password (encrypted)
  • Payment details (handled via third-party processor)

b. Usage Information

  • Device type and browser
  • IP address
  • Log data (e.g. login times)
  • Features used (e.g. video, chat, annotations)

c. Content You Upload or Create

  • Audio/video streams during lessons
  • Chat messages
  • Uploaded files (e.g. sheet music)
  • Lesson notes and history

d. Children’s Information

We collect limited information about children only with the consent of a parent or guardian, such as:

  • First name
  • Lesson participation data
  • Work submitted or shared during a session

2. How We Collect Information

We collect personal information:

  • When you create or update an account
  • When you use the Maestrocast service
  • When you contact us (e.g., via email or chat)
  • Through cookies and analytics tools

Children’s accounts must be created or managed by a parent, guardian, or authorised teacher with appropriate consent.


3. Why We Collect and Use Your Information

We collect and use your personal information to:

  • Provide and manage Maestrocast
  • Personalise your experience
  • Process payments and subscriptions
  • Communicate with you (e.g., support, billing, updates)
  • Ensure compliance with our Terms of Service
  • Improve and develop the platform

We will not use your personal information for direct marketing without your consent.


4. Disclosure of Personal Information

We may disclose your personal information:

  • To service providers (e.g. hosting, payments, support tools), under confidentiality
  • To legal authorities, if required by law
  • If Maestrocast is transferred or sold, subject to safeguards

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.

Some of our service providers may store or process data outside Australia (e.g., in the United States or EU). We take reasonable steps to ensure that any overseas recipients comply with the Australian Privacy Principles or similar protections.

Your data is stored securely and retained only as long as necessary for business or legal reasons. After that, it is securely destroyed or anonymised.

8. Children’s Privacy

Maestrocast is designed for use by children under adult supervision.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without the consent of a parent or guardian. We collect only what is necessary to support their use of the platform (e.g. name, lesson data).

Where lesson recordings are made, they are only created with parental or guardian consent and are accessible only to authorised users (such as the teacher, student, and, where appropriate, parents/guardians).

Parents or guardians can request to review or delete their child's data by contacting support@maestrocast.com.


9. Lesson Recordings

Maestrocast may allow lessons to be recorded (audio and/or video) for educational, quality assurance, or safety purposes. Recordings are only made with the knowledge and consent of all participants, or their parent/guardian in the case of children.

  • Recordings are stored securely and are accessible only to authorised users (such as the teacher, student, and, where appropriate, parents/guardians).
  • Recordings are not shared with third parties except as required by law or with explicit consent.
  • You may request access to, or deletion of, lesson recordings by contacting support@maestrocast.com.

10. Cookies and Analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Maintain login sessions
  • Understand how users interact with Maestrocast
  • Improve performance

You can manage cookie settings in your browser. Disabling cookies may affect functionality.
